With the recently announced 2007 Australian parliamentary elections due to be held on 24th November 2007, ex-Prime Minister Bob Hawke believes that John Howard “has a Herculean task in front of him to save himself and his Government”.
Mr. Hawke, who is writing election reports for Darwin Sportsbet, went on to say “Labor looked like having an embarrassing glitch with the unfortunately timed speech by shadow Foreign Affairs spokesman Robert McClelland on capital punishment in general and in regard to Asia particularly. I think Kevin Rudd effectively put this to rest with an impressive performance on the 7:30 Report last night and the identification of Alexander Downer as an identical policy position to Labor.” In his latest report Mr. Hawke made this observation of Howard – “The more he dithers over calling the election the less he looks like Hercules”.
