Small Publisher Growing in Challenging Market
Small Publisher Growing in Challenging Market
Chico, CA (PRWEB) October 17, 2005
Falbe Publishing continued to gain media attention in October, ten months after the release of its first title “Get Dicey: Play Craps and Have Fun” (ISBN 0-9762235-0-3 January 2005). The author of “Get Dicey” Tracy Falbe, who goes by the pen name Tracy Michigan, appeared in the Chico, California daily newspaper the Enterprise-Record in an October 9th article about women in business.
“It’s encouraging for me to see my first book still getting attention,” Falbe said. “Especially because I plan to publish two more books in January.”
She decided to start her small publishing company in order to produce “Get Dicey” because an author has to work so hard to market a book, it seemed logical to also pursue her desire to start a business and simply publish the book and retain all ownership. Falbe determined that “Get Dicey” would be an ideal book to launch her company because it is a how to play craps book and there is a large potential market because of the millions of people who visit casinos every year.
“People also think that craps is interesting,” said Falbe, who once worked in Las Vegas as craps dealer.
The publication of “Get Dicey” has been a tremendous learning experience, Falbe said. While promoting the title, she established a supplier relationship with the international wholesaler Baker & Taylor, Inc. that sells to bookstores and libraries, and also got her craps book up for sale at Amazon, Barnes&Noble.com, and Booksamillion.com.
Now that Falbe Publishing has a selling network in place, Falbe will be launching in 2006 her fiction imprint Brave Luck Books with the publication of two titles.
“I’m excited to be a part of the publishing industry, no matter how small,” Falbe said. “It’s a tough business because of all the competition, but I think slow and steady will win the race.”
