TeamUSA Football To Compete In Great Britain BCAFLÂs GB Bulldogs Hosts Tri-National Tourney in August
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 5, 2005
TeamUSA Football has accepted the invitation to compete against the Great Britain Bulldogs and Team Canada next month in Coventry, England. The British Collegiate American Football LeagueÂs (BCAFL) All Star GB Bulldogs will host the Sports International Tour Cup tourney from August 19th through 27th at the Butts Park Arena. Rudy Wyland, Head Coach and Director of TeamUSA Football stated, ÂOur team is prepared to head to Britain to compete in these games. The reception we received from British fans of American Football last year was incredible, and this is an opportunity to compete against two formidable teams and the challenge was too good to pass up.Â
This is the American teamÂs second appearance in Britain. Team CanadaÂs participation in the event is promoted as the Â2005 Eurotour and is endorsed by NFL Canada. The team is made up of CanadaÂs premiere all star football players at various stages of their collegiate careers. Despite last monthÂs attacks in the London mass transportation systems, participating teams never considered altering their plans to play in this tournament.
This is also TeamUSA FootballÂs second trip to Europe this year after competing against the Graz Giants of the Austrian Football League in May. ÂAmerican football is increasing in popularity across the Atlantic, Wyland noted. ÂWe have enjoyed being a part of the surge in fan interest even as far away as New Zealand and Australia.Â
Team USA Football is campaigning to be the American entry to the World Cup of American Football which is organized by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). There are 16 countries participating in American Football competition representing more than 60 teams at the adult and junior levels under the IFAF umbrella. The European Federation of American Football (EFAF) mostly administers American Football events within the European Economic Community. Team USA Football has achieved significant recognition as the representative of the United States in International American Football competitions.
Team USA is being actively pursued by teams in the German Football League, Austrian Football League, Japan’s X-League and the French Federation of American Football (new development). We have been in contact with other teams such as the Moscow Patriots and the Turkish National Team, the Ukrainian National Team and the Prague Lions. The organization is also exploring a charitable game against NYPDÂs Finest in New York City.
